LANDSCAPE DESIGN CONCEPT

One of the world’s most renowned hotels, this project involved renovation of the Authors Lounge Garden and the Garden wing internal landscape courtyard.

As an extension of the Author’s Lounge function area, the landscaping created an open courtyard as a natural progression of indoor space into the garden. Traditional garden geometry was used with curved corners rounding off a rectangular lawn.

The many species of tree, palm and shrub planting were simplified into a more cohesive design and new drainage was installed to make a usable central open space. Existing historical sculptures were carefully integrated into the new layout, while the ‘Swing’ sculpture was repositioned along the pathway leading to the river terrace and pier, intuitively guiding guests toward the waterfront.

Low hedge borders frame rough textured shrubbery, enclosing the garden, and taller hedges screen the adjacent service areas. A new walkway separates pedestrian circulation to the pier.
